About The artist

David Harris

For David, life has been a road of challenges, therefore, his travels from painting to sculpture have been short and filled with joy and enlightenment.  As a self-taught artist he enlists a variety of media and styles to capture the spirit of his subjects.  Not being satisfied with just creating sculpture, he has mastered the art of mold making and casting as well.  From conception to a finished work of art, each piece is caressed and nurtured to reveal its essence, bringing each one to life. "The essence, or spirit, of the subject is elusive, and that is what I look for.  When choosing a subject, I go beyond the obvious, finding a different perspective on one of nature's age-old themes." David founded Light and Time Design Studio in 1991 as an alternative to paying the high foundry cost associated with casting his sculpture.  Based on the knowledge that there were other sculptors in the same dilemma, he has established his business with fair prices, quality work, and a reasonable working timetable. When not working on commissioned pieces, he teaches other artists the art of sculpting, mold making and casting, this interaction helps him maintain his creative force.  David's art is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. "Art is the progression of materials united with thought, design and form until it becomes exactly like the artist themselves. To invoke emotion from the viewer is the ultimate goal of any work of art." David Harris
